Our Frequently Asked DTF Questions.

1What is direct to film (DTF)?
DTF (Direct-to-Film) printing is a process where a design is printed onto a special film using water-based inks and then transferred to a garment using heat and pressure. It allows for full-color, detailed images on a wide range of fabrics.
2What is the largest DTF print available?
Currently, 12 wide x 16 length is the largest print available.
3What materials can DTF transfers be applied to?
Cotton, polyester, blends, canvas, denim, leather, and more. Works on both light and dark fabrics.
4Do I need a heat press for DTF?
Yes, for best results. Home irons won’t provide enough consistent pressure or heat, and may result in poor adhesion.
5How do I apply a DTF transfer?
  1. Pre-press your garment for 5–10 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles.
  2. Place the DTF transfer on the fabric according to your specifications, design side up.
  3. Press using a heat press at 295–305°F (146–152°C) for 15–20 seconds (exact specs may vary).
  4. Let it cool (cold peel), then peel the film.
  5. Repress for 15–20 seconds with a Teflon or parchment sheet to cure print into garment.
6How long do DTF prints last?
With proper care, DTF prints last 60+ washes—often longer than screen prints.
7How should I wash garments with DTF prints?
  • Wash inside out
  • Cold water, mild detergent
  • No bleach or fabric softener
  • Hang dry or tumble low
  • Do not iron on the print
